PCC Productions is proud to present, in its third year, the West Village musical Theatre Festival, - New York's first festival of all-new one-act musicals by a selection of NYC's top emerging professional talent. This year's West Village Musical Theatre Festival will feature over twenty new works from some of musical theatre's most exciting emerging and established writers, composers, and lyricists.

This year marks a turning point for the festival as we go OFF-BROADWAY!!! The festival will be held June 8th-17th at the stunning New York Live Arts Center. This space will provide an unprecedented opportunity for patrons to see new works developed at a Broadway-caliber facility.

We presented 12 works in two separate "series", each series consisting of six 10-15 minute one-act musicals - giving audiences lots of different performances to see in one night and taking the cost of producing a full length production off of the creative teams.The original goal of the festival was to provide a professional, off-off Broadway performance opportunity and AEA Showcase Credit for Performers Career Center students enrolled in the Professional Development/Vocal Performance Program. The festival quickly grew into much more than that. A record number of industry including agents, producers, casting directors, and press attended a previously unknown musical theatre festival in June 2010. We realized that the "CD track" festival format is very condusive to increasing industry attendance. Industry have a difficult time sitting through more than one performance of larger festivals like Fringe and NYMF that produce full length works, and must choose between many invitations. At the WVMTF, they can get a sampling of six musicals in less than 90 minutes, each short musical running a maximum of 15 minutes. The result was that many festival pieces were seen by industry, and many caught the producer's interest. Several festival pieces noticed and loved by NYC producers were picked up and are currently being developped for Off-Broadway full length runs. In addition, performers immediately out of conservatories were able to work alongside those with experience on Broadway, and budding composers, writers, and lyricists, developed music with those who have won high profile awards and even those who have composed for Hollywood films. If that wasn't enough, we held a Networking Gala for everyone to meet each other, and invited tons of local independent theatre companies in NYC, including the NY Theatre Barn, Scandinavian American Theatre Company, Cross-Eyed Bear, Small Pond Entertainment, and many others.The West Village Musical Theatre Festival, in its second year, strives to provide career-building opportunities for all emerging musical theatre professionals and high-quality work that is entertaining, innovative, and accessible for today's musical theatre audiences.The festival hopes to earn some proceeds this year to go towards the William Haralson Scholarship Competition. Visit our tickets page for our performance calendar (coming soon).What is a 'series'?This year's festival consists of four series. Each series features 6 one act musicals that run 10-15 minutes each, making the series about 90 minutes long. Consider it a six-course performance. The series structure is what makes the festival unique, allowing audience members to see 6 new one act musicals in one short night at the theatre, for one low ticket price. In addition this year we will offer ticket discounts for multiple-series purchases.How long is each series?Series vary in length, but each is approximately 90 minutes long. The series all run back to back performances with 30 minutes in between for set changeover. Where will the festival be held?The festival will be held at the Bessie Schoenburg Theater at the NY Live Arts Center - 219 W 19th Street, New York, NY 10011 as well as other event venues throughout the West Village.Where to I buy tickets?Tickets can be purchased for each series online at www.brownpapertickets.com up until 24 hours before the performance. Afterwards, tickets can be purchased with cash at the door. How much are tickets?Ticket prices for the 2012 festival TBA. Please sign up for our mailing list for ticket discount announcements!Do creative staff receive any complimentary tickets?Each creative team member will receive one comp to see their work in the festival. Directors will receive two comps. Do industry receive complimentary tickets?Industry who make reservations in advance and can supply a business card on company letterhead will receive one free ticket and press packet per industry member. Industry cannot reserve multiple tickets for guests.Do you hold auditions for actors?Check our apply or audition page for information on audtion dates and instructions on how to submit your materials.I'm a [composer, lyricist, book writer, choreographer, director] - how do I get involved?See our apply or audtion page for specific requirements for each division. Be sure to submit our application form with all of your supporting materials before the deadline. There is an application fee of $15 per position for the fesitival.What am I going to get out of being involved as creative staff?Aside from a production and resume credit, you will likely get future work. Our creative staff come from many backgrounds, be it straight out of conservatory all the way to major Broadway veterans, and are working on many different projects that follow the festival. Most of our actors from last year were immediately cast in other shows, musicals, and readings, and some of our festival pieces were picked up to be developed by major NYC Producers.Does it cost anything for creative staff to produce work?Composers, lyricists, and writers are only responsible for paying their application fee. Directors are considered the producers of their piece and are responsible for AEA Showcase Code applications (no cost), and any production costs, including set, costumes, props, additional musicians, and rehearsal space. As most guerilla theatre zealots in NYC know, most, if not all, of these can be obtained for free. We have many resources available at the theatre and free space for music rehearsals. We also provide rehearsal space in the theatre during tech/dress week that directors can sign up for on a first come-first served basis. Is the festival AEA approved?The West Village Musical Theatre Festival is currently looking to negotiate for a short-musical seasonal festvial code with AEA. The constraints and size of the performance venue have allowed us to outgrow AEA showcase code.Are you a not for profit?PCC Productions, Inc. is a not-for-profit theatre comapny with 501(c)3 status.
